Will Vinyl Records Make A Comeback

There has been a definite increase in the number of vinyl records that have been sold over the last few years. This is great news to people like me; people who feel that there is just nothing that sounds as good as listening to your favourite tunes on vinyl. I don’t care what anyone says; mp3 just doesn’t sound the same as LPs. I am not alone in my devotion to old style records – there seems to be many people who feel the same way.

It isn’t just the sound of vinyl that is leading to its comeback; it is also not just about people wanting to live in the past. It is really something else and quite a nice feeling to be the owner of your own record collection. You just don’t get the same feeling with CDs and especially not with MP3s. Although many people really felt remorse when proper albums went out of fashion, I doubt anyone would feel the same about their CD collections. There was a time when people used to enjoy flicking through the various LPs in a record shop and taking pleasure at the beautiful artwork which adorned the covers was something that could take hours.

A vinyl collection also looks a whole lot more impressive than having songs on your computer or MP3 player. Not many friends are going to ask to look through that sort of collection – who has the time. However looking through someone’s album collection was something that almost everyone used to do quite regularly. Most people these days download tons of music that they are probably never going to listen to and looking through their collection would not really tell you anything about them; not like years ago when you could tell a lot about a person just by looking through their vinyl collection. The news that vinyl is making a comeback is great for music and hopefully it will mean that younger people will find this joy of a stack of albums for themselves.
