Take That, the Band and the People

Getting together in the United Kingdom city of Manchester during the year 1990, a group formed that was a 5 piece intended to compete with the then wildly popular New Kids on the Block. Unlike New Kids on the block and other US boy bands at the time Take That would be more of a reflection of what British teenagers were really like at the time. The group would focus on appealing directly to its fan base by being more like the people they were reaching out to. To say that the approach Take That, which was very nearly almost called ‘Kick It’, took was successful is a bit like saying that water is wet. The group struggled only for a short time to get recognition and then it was straight up to the top of the pop charts in the UK and all across Europe, as well. Between 1991 and 1996 Take That sold over 25,000,000 albums.

Although the band were undoubtably manufactured they were talented musicians who quickly grew into well respected artists in their own right. The original member of Take That were: Howard Donald, Jason Orange, Mark Owen, Robbie Williams and Gary Barlow. Yes, that Robbie Williams – the one who would later go on to be a hugely famous hit singer in his own right during his solo career. In fact, much of the reason for why the group disbanded in ‘96 is due to the fact that Williams left the group and they did not feel the same performing without him. There is a great deal of drama to the story of Take That and it is just one more thing for the legions of fans to talk about when they get together.

Take That’s populrity far exceeded that of any other British band of the time with over 20 top 40 chart hits over a 5 year period. Take That soon became the darlings of the record business with their singles guarenteed to reach high chart positions and albums sure to sell huge quantities at the peak of their popularity. It would seem that fame really is an addiction as after nearly 15 years apart the group reformed in 2010. Robbie and the rest of the boys announced the original line up of Take That would regroup in 2010 for an album entitled Progress and a stadium tour which would go by the same name. 2011 Take That tickets to the concert tour saw huge demand when they were released in October 2010 and the ticket sites couldn’t keep up with demand. For Take that, the legend continues to grow.

Myths About Learning Piano

Learning Piano is as vital subject as religion and politics is. There is a difference of opinion about both these subjects even though most of the people do not carry ample amount of knowledge regarding it. Below are some common fables about learning piano lessons:

1. People need inborn flair to become master of something

Most of the people assume that in order to excel in a particular field, a man must be born a genius. Well, that Mozart has always been intended to be a good musician. But in reality, one do not necessarily need any inborn talent to master something.
All you need is the practice and the motivation that make you master. In point of fact, if you keep on practicing, you’ll become perfect! So, practicing piano lessons can undoubtedly make you a perfect pianist.

2. Not giving proper time and efforts will result in slow learning process of piano lessons

Most of the people cordially believe in this common myth. Sometimes, people try a lot and give more than enough time for learning piano lessons. But still, they remain unsuccessful in attaining their set success level.
They think that paying lot of time is the great element towards learning piano. This is true that you need to put lots of time and effort. However there must be a change of learning patterns with proper utilization of time that can give you success.

3. 10 hours a day can make you master of Piano

This myth is just like the one described above. Majority of people think that in order to become a really good pianist, one is required to spend each waking hour to think about piano and to practice it. It really helps if we take this mania as an instance.
If you keep on playing same skill on piano for 10 hours, you’ll be stuck to one level only. Most pianists are of the view that just one hour of piano practice with right piano lessons is more useful than the practice of ten hours.

4. Everybody is not that smart to learn quickly

Most of the people are of the view that they cannot learn piano quickly. We human beings usually like attributing our achievements to the things we normally manage. On the other hand, we attribute our failures to the things not being administered by us. So, we should avoid such things especially while learning piano lessons. Remember these myths will spoil up the process instead of making it a success.

5. Nobody can considerably change the pace of learning

Many people think like this because they believe that all of them carry a certain innate IQ, which determines their rate of learning. In reality, if we use the right learning methods, we can make everything possible. The best method of increasing learning tenfold is the utilization of right tactics and methodologies. Remember right piano lessons are the key to learn piano effectively and quickly.

Beware of the myths about learning piano as they won’t let you learn piano lessons effectively.

Legacy Of John Lennons Peace Mission Lives On

October the 9th 2010 should have been the day that John Lennon celebrated his 70th birthday, but instead it was a day when the world remembered the musician and peace activist who was cruelly gunned down by a psychopath at the entrance to his New York apartment building after returning from a recording studio on the evening of 8 December 1980.

John Lennon’s 70th Birthday was remembered around the world and even highlighted by the Internet search engine giant Google who displayed a special ‘Google’ logo for the day in honour of his birthday, complete with an animated video for the song “Imagine”, one of Lennon’s most enduring solo hits.

A weekend of peace-themed events in Iceland kicked off in the capital Reykjavik with the premiere of a film about Yoko’s quest to build the Imagine Peace Tower in memory of her husband.

The circular white stone structure, on the city’s Videy Island, has inscriptions of “Imagine Peace” in 24 languages. Fifteen spotlights sending light 30 feet into the air are lit every year from the musician’s birthday to December 8 the day he was killed.

Since his tragic death 30 years ago, John Lennon’s name has been co-opted around the world for the names of parks, buildings and airports. Even something as incongruous as Liverpool Airport parking services have been named after the work of the musician, such as the ‘Imagine Car Parking’ service located near Liverpool Airport.

This month also saw the release of the John Lennon Signature Box set of newly-remastered CDs. The project was overseen by Yoko Ono, and features digitally-enhanced versions of 7 official releases, and two bonus CDs of non-album singles and rare unreleased material.

Stars Of Flamenco Guitar Music

Logically, these new guitar innovators, are inspired by and improve on the legacies of those who have gone before. The most prominent and influential in our modern era was Ramon Montoya. Although he is best thought of as the Uncle of the trail-blazing Flamenco flamenco music guitarist Carlos Montoya, it was, without a doubt, Ramon who did the “trail blazing” and Carlos who followed. significant one.

Lifting Flamenco guitar music from it’s rigid accompanying role, to a foreground one. Carlos then proceeded to popularize Flamenco music by virtually consistent world touring in the 20’s through the 50’s. Including also Jazz, Folk, Blues and Classical influences into his traditional Flamenco.

The “Flamenco torch” was then handed to the incredible Paco de Lucia. Who, like Ramon and Carlos Montoya, started his professional voyage accompanying Flamenco dancers and singers. As a result, Paco developed, and keeps growing a career as a Flamenco innovator. Both alone and with his group. And, like Carlos, Paco’s compositions resonate with his interest in a wide assortment of musical trends.

Galvanized by, and building on the accomplishments of the Montoyas’ and Paco, today’s Spanish guitar heroes are blazing new musical boundaries, yet again with their compositions. The technically impressive, but always soulful Lawson Rollins. Native toNorth Carolina, now living in San Francisco. The Chilean born Oscar Lopez, now living in Canada. Mesmerizing audiences with his rhythm and musical passion. For some reason, perhaps just coincidence, Canada would seem to be a magnet for the new breed of Flamenco Heroes. Because in addition to Oscar Lopez, it is in Toronto that the Trinidadian born flamenco magician Miguel de la Bastide making his home. Yet another “Canadian Connection” is Guitarist Jesse Cook. Born in Paris to Canadian parents, and now , like his other Canadian “musical brothers” living in in Canada, Jesse spent his early musical development years in the Camargue region of France. Where he was inspired by the native gypsy music. Principally that of guitarist Manitas de Plata, (his next door neighbour) and Nicholas Reyes principal singer of the Gypsy Kings.

Of all the recent Spanish guitar heroes, perhaps the one who most perfectly mixes elements of all the feelings of the other guitarists mentioned, is Santiago Cortez. One is instantaneously struck by both the quality and the diversity of his compositions. He is a purist. In the sense that each idiom, each influence, is respected and honored in the context of the composition. His faultless technique and authentic gift for melody, constantly letting it lead the listener’s ear, ensures a one of a kind musical experience every time. While Santiago’s New flamenco guitar music is attainable and recognizable, it is never derivative. His stew of musical references and influences is seamless and unconscious. The indisputable evidence of a specialist at the top of his game.

Spanish Flamenco Guitar

“Flamenco” is the name most frequently associated with spanish guitar And although it is definitely part of that country’s culture, it’s native only to the Southern area of Andalucia. However this does’nt mean that if you’re not born in Andalucia, you can’t be a “genuine” Flamenco artist! There have been, and continue to be, many creators from other regions and other countries. Most notably Latin America and Cuba.

Originally, Flamenco was the music of the Andalucian gypsies. And, understandably, those who grew up around them were called “Flamencos.”

Just as this style of spanish music was the result of centuries of influence and “cross pollination” by and from Byzantine and Moorish influences, the same is true for the advancement of the Spanish Guitar.

Cross Pollination

After the Islamic invasion of Spain in 711, the region of what we today refer to as Cordoba, became a center for Islamic musicians. Who were unquestionably influenced by the local music. The earliest phase of the guitars’ evolution was the inclusion of a fifth string to the Islamic Oud. The resulting instrument was the Andalucian “Nuba.” More commonly referred to as the “Moorish Guitar.”

Centuries later, features of this instrument paired with the European Lute and the Guitar Latina created the Vihuela. This became the starting point for the Baroque guitar, which, in turn, transformed into the Classical guitar. Ultimately, the Flamenco guitar was born. A adaptation of it’s Classical “cousin.”

A Quantum Leap

Although it’s not always possible to say exactly when a particular style or form of music “started” – it’s safe to say that that the arrival of Carlos Montoya was a an extremely important benchmark. Montoya, a gypsy, who could’nt read or write music, began performing in cafes when he was only 14 years old. In that era, the guitar was regarded exclusively as an accompanying instrument. It was Montoya’s musical gifts, both as a performer and a composer that would lift the guitar, and it’s music to foreground status.

Durng the 20’s and 30’s Montoya toured the World, often accompanying well known dancers, such as La Argentina. After the Second World War, now headquarted in New York, Montoya continued to fill concert halls(including the Houston Astrodome!)Expanding his repertoire(and that of new Spanish Flamenco Music) to include jazz, folk and blues.

Passing the Torch

Montoya’s achievements paved the way for all future Flamenco guitarists. The most famous modern one being, of course, Paco de Lucia. Like, Montoya, Paco also began his professional career at an early age, and also by accompanying dancers and singers. His first significant professional accomplishment was accompanying the celebratedFlamenco singer Carmen De La Istra for eight years. Paco continues to add to the advancement of Spanish music with his shows and compositions which, like Montoya, freely incorporate jazz, pop, rock, folk, blues and classical motifs.

The Modern Scene

Today, it is Paco, the inheritor to Montoya’s tradition, who is the inspiration and reference for the current generation of Spanish Flamenco guitarists.Jesse Cook, the spirited Canadian. Oscar Lopez. Lawson Rollins. Miguel de La Bastide. Jose Encinas. And, naturally, Santiago Cortez.
Like Paco, Santiago seamlessly blends the music of many cultures and traditions, in a style that is always familiar, but never derivative. His two great strengths are the quality of his compositions, and his exceptional gift for melody. Santiago’s formidable technique is always complimenting, never overpowering it. This is what makes his brand of spanish flamenco guitar so unique and listenable.

The Insane Clown Posse Music

Insane Clown Posse is composed of Joseph Bruce and Joseph Utsler. They are an American hip hop duo who began their career in the late 80s in Detroit, Michigan where they both grew up. Much of the Insane Clown Posse music is about the urban life in that city.

How They Got Started

Oddly enough, the duo’s kinship did not begin because of their common passion into hip hop music but because of their backyard wrestling activities. They had backyard rings that they themselves built. Sometime in 1989, together with Utsler’s brother, they released a single titled “Party at the Top of the Hill”. They called themselves the JJ Boys. However, the trio did not pursue a serious musical career as they just did the song out of fun.

They started a gang which they named the Inner City Posse. But after a few skirmishes with the law and eventually getting jailed, they decided to focus all of their energies into creating hip hop music. Bruce wanted to retain the initials ICP while they are thinking for a name for their new group. He recalled a dream he had about a clown just running around in a street and that is where they got the name Insane Clown Posse.

The first Insane Clown Posse music style was gangsta, but they wanted Detroit to have its own signature rap. They decided to follow in the acid rap style of the rapper, Esham but added their own by using horror-themed lyrics.

John Utsler, however, decided to leave the group. He said the demands of their music career, particularly their series of live performances, had been taking much of his time and that he wanted to focus more on his family. This happened during production of “Carnival of Carnage”, the group’s debut album.

The “Carnival of Carnage” was released on the 18th of October, 1992 with distribution focusing just within Detroit. It was not an immediate hit but by 2010 it became eligible for gold record certification by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). Fans started looking for Insane Clown Posse merch to have a deeper connection with the rising popularity of the duo.

It was the group’s second album, “Ringmaster”, that brought them better popularity. Their concerts started to sell out and their name has started to become synonymous with Detroit rap.

More albums followed for the next 15 years: Riddle Box, The Great Milenko, The Amazing Jeckel Brothers, Bizaar, Bizaar; The Wraith: Shangri-La, Hell’s Pit, The Tempest, and Bang! Pow! Boom!.

Live Performances

Insane Clown Posse is known for its flamboyant, over the top, and and elaborate concert performances. Aside from their clown makeups, one fixture in all of their performances are the spraying of Faygo soft drinks into the crowd and also the hurling of the bottles even to the audience. The duo had been drinking that brand of soft drink since they were kids and continued to do so even while they are performing.

Even after more than 20 years since Insane Clown Posse started with their rap music, they are still creating albums and going on performances. Fans are continuously raving for their music, band merch, and live performances to satisfy their hunger for great rap music.

Christian Songs A Difficult Journey

Through the years Christian music has seen many changes. Christian contemporary music is generally considered to have originated in the late sixties during the Jesus movement. Larry Norman was an early pioneer in the genre. There was also a mainstream movement during the sixties that got the message out there. Some of these songs even charted on mainstream charts. One in particular was from the band Ocean.

”Put Your Hand in the Hand” was a very good God song. It really became popular among a broad audience. There was however unforeseen blow-back from fellow Christians. They feared that these bands were not capable of delivering the message in a good way. Fortunately the detractors were not victorious. Christian music started to gain momentum.

As with any new genre Christian music fell victim to the bandwagon effect. There were Christian songs being produced by bands who were lacking in the talent department. This was due to a lack of talented artists willing to release Christian music. There was a major demand for this new music. Because of the demand they released Christian music that was very lacking in quality. In some ways the Christian music movement became a place for no talents to make a name for themselves. Were they truly believers? Only God and the actual artists know that.

With time Christian music started to see a flood of real talent. Artists that were Christians started to embrace their beliefs. The Christian songs that started being produced were of a much better quality. In 1972 a Christian band called Petra was formed. Petra changed the face of Christian music, they were and still are an influence on many Christian artists. Their popularity really peaked in the eighties.

This popularity carried well into the nineties. Other styles of Christian music began to emerge. There was a Christian counterpart for pretty much any style of music. Finally the genre had become fully fledged. It was overflowing with talented musicians.

The expansion of Christian music as genre was probably greatest in the nineties. These artists were able to adapt and grow with mainstream trends. With the popularity of gangsta rap Christian rappers like T-Bone offered Christian alternatives.

Christian music has stood the test of time. It’s no longer playing catch up with mainstream music. The genre as a whole now grows right along with the mainstream.

It is not uncommon to see an album from a band like Jars of Clay debut on the mainstream charts. Feature films even feature Christian songs on the soundtracks nowadays. The people who oppose Christian music will never go away completely. I just hope that people will ignore them and not miss out on this great music.

Christian songs encompasses all styles. Find out more about Christian songs at http://godsongsblog.com/.

Which God Songs Are Best

Is it possible that contemporary Christian music can be as good as traditional hymns when it comes to worship? I believe it can. For me I love both traditional hymns and the new Christian God songs equally. This is a golden opportunity to create more unity between Christians.

The first question some may ask, does modern Christian music have a place in worship? This music is a staple at most of the modern mega chuches. It is unfortunate though that more traditional churches do not generally feature the newer God songs. Hymns are supposed to be songs that praise and worship the Lord. I feel that modern Christian music does indeed do that.

I find it hard to believe that anyone would think a song like “I Can Only Imagine” does not glorify God. I believe the problem is one of human nature. People naturally resist things that are new.

As with most problems there is more than one side. Most of the modern large churches do not use the old traditional hymns as part of their worship services. In a move that is geared towards the youth, these churches tend not to feature the old classic God songs. Of course the youth should be focused on, the message cannot be allowed to die off. Isn’t it possible to make both the young and old happy? I’ve got a feeling that adding some traditional God songs will not chase the younger crowd away.

I am just presenting the opinion of a parishioner that has worshiped at many churches of varying denominations. I do fear that an unnecessary divide is being created between Christians. That may limit interaction. These interactions should prove rewarding for both sides. The solution to this problem is really quite simple. Find the right combination of modern and traditional Christian songs, this will create a wonderful worship experience for all.

I feel the perfect mix of new and old God songs provides the ideal worship experience. If your favorite church tends to go one way or the other why not make a suggestion to your pastor? In the end this is all about glorifying his name. What could be better than conquering yet another divide to do that.

This is admittedly a generalization but I think the problem is generational. Over the years there has always been a natural resistance to embrace the new. This is true of most things not just Christian music. Which type of Christian music do you prefer? Is there some reason why a person can’t like both? You may be missing out if you refuse to give the newer Christian music a chance. I suggest that you check some of the Christian songs out from these artists and give them chance. There is something for everyone in today’s Christian music.

Christian songs are featured at http://godsongsblog.com/, also check out the history of Christian music.
