Common Careers That Offer Higher Divorce Rates Than Usual

If you’re in certain professions, then you may have an increaesd risk of getting divorced. There have been recent studies conducted to confirm this. You might expect that corporate executives, military, or medical professions might lead to more divorces due to long hours and stress, but in that you’d be wrong. The highest divorce rates belong to dancers and choreographers followed by bartenders, massage therapists, gaming cage workers, and extruding machine operators. Females also have a slightly higher chance of divorce than males.

The 2000 census was used to reach these conclusions by researchers at Radford University. Some of these professions don’t make a lot of sense.  However, the careers that put people in contact with others increase the risk of affairs. Why would dancers have a whopping 43.05% divorce rate? Having 32% of people who run extruding machines get divorced also doesn’t make much sense. I’m sure those researchers didn’t expect to make those findings.

There are also omissions in the list that includes the top ten divorce rates by profession. It seems suspicious that athletes and high-profile celebrities aren’t on the list. Most people would suspect for them to be at the top, but they’re not. It makes you wonder why a bartender gets divorced 38.4% of the time while people in the media and communications equipment field only have a 0% divorce rate. Those who conducted the study have no clue why those professions have higher divorce rates.

Working closely with other people tops the list of suggested reasons why people divorce. Dancers have plenty of physical contact with members of the opposite sex, so one can easily see how an affair could start. One thing professions on this list have in common is that they require lots of contact with other people. Another factor may be in professions which require long hours and a great deal of dedication. Although the old adage says that “absence makes the heart grow fonder”, this university study seems to refute the truth of that belief.
